Ever felt like the odd man out? Some of you who know me well will know that I have perpetually dreamed of dancing with the fabulous Ballet Trockadero de Monte Carlo. Ever on the lookout for a good omen, I seized upon yesterday's auspicious date, 07-07-07, for my audition. Fortunately, the stars were alligned and some of the ballerinas, Ida Nevasayneva, Tatiana Youbetyabootskaya, Maria Paranova and Maya Thickenthighya were here in Israel holding local auditions.
I may be going
Out on a Limb, but let's just say that the audition didn't go as well as I'd hoped. First of all, they intimated that, at 5'9"/179 cm, I might be a tad too tall and that my feet were fatuitously large. Then, with confidence shaken and like a young Shirley MacLaine, I crashed and burned, mangling my poor left big toe. Perhaps I'll try again in my next life...
Hommage à Daniel Day-Lewis: My Left ToeWell, I could always become a novice with
the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and take their three vows: to promulgate universal joy, to expiate stigmatic guilt and to serve the community. I'm not sure if there is a convent of the order here in Israel but perhaps Sister Bea Attitude, Sister Bearlesque and Sister Aura Lee Gifted might be persuaded to dispatch Sister Barbi Mitzvah to come be our reverend mother...

In other news, Adina Lepp, the reporter for
Portland's Just Out newspaper whom I met in Jerusalem at Pride a few weeks ago, just sent me
a link to her article which includes blurbs by both my buddy, Eric and me. If you're in Portland and have a copy on hand, it's in the 6 July issue on page 17 of the 56 page edition.
